QUO VADIMUS (Where are we going)

Greetings Sir Knights,

We are in the last month of the Templar year but we are by no means coasting to the finish line. We will continue our pace of degree work and community and Patriotic activities with no let up.

PAST EVENTS:

April 16: The Ladies Appreciation Dinner and awards night was held with 31 SK"s and guests in attendance. Service pins, perpetual plaques and individual awards were presented. Thank you to all who attended. This was an excellent event for the Commandery.

April 21: For the Miami Commandery inspection we had six SK"s make the trip to Lebanon to represent Covert # 43. Accompanying my Lady Diana and I to the inspection were SK"s Bob Bayless, Al Cloke, Adam Cloke, T. Mark Liggett and Bill Shannon. I appreciate all those who chose to come to this inspection and support the Commandery.

April 22: Five SK"s and five guests met for coffee and doughnuts and then made the road trip to the USAF Museum located at Wright-Patterson AFB. I am sure that there are several SK"s and guests who now know more about the difference between a regular B-29 and a 'Silver-plate' B-29 than they ever wanted to know. The lesson in orbital mechanics and the description of the 'roller coaster' reentry trajectory flown by the returning Apollo Command Modules might have been a little deep but for those of you who were able to listen to that without having your eyes glass over....congratulations!
I want to thank T. Mark Liggett and his family, Paul Wheeler and his guest and Al and Adam Cloke for attending this activity. It was a great trip. We had a nice lunch at the cafeteria and saw a very interesting movie at the IMAX. Thanks again for your support.

4 May 2012: 6th District Grand Masters Reception. Five SK"s from Covert Commandery participated in the Color Guard at the GM Reception. Those participating were Bob Bayless, John Disney, T. Mark Liggett, Dale Olson and Bill Swift.

5 May 2012: 1st District Grand Masters Reception. Three SK"s from Covert Commandery participated in the Color Guard at the GM Reception. Those participating were Renie Blankenship Jr., T. Mark Liggett, and Dale Olson.

7 May 2012: Conferred the Illustrious Order of the Red Cross and the Order of Malta on two candidates. The Eminent Commander acted as Sovereign Master and Prior and conferred both orders on the candidates in the approved short form IAW the ritual manual.

7 MAY 2012: Annual election of officers was held at the stated conclave. Congratulations to the Eminent Commander Elect, SK Renie Blankenship Jr. and all the elected officers of Covert Commandery.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

THURSDAY, 24 May: We will be conferring the OOT on two candidates. Meal is at 6 and work is at 7 pm. Each candidate will receive the 5th libation individually. Plan for a little bit of extra time to confer this OOT. Please come out and support these two new SK"s.

Monday, 28 May: Covert Commandery will be conducting a Memorial Day service at JB Covert Lodge. We will gather at 11:00 and will begin the service at 11:30. The service will consist of the placing of four wreaths to honor the Army, Navy USAF and USMC. Wreaths will be placed by Commandery members who are veterans of the respective services. The placement will be followed by the playing of 'Echo Taps' by two trumpeters. REC Don Owens and USAF veteran EC Dolby Bennett have agreed to perform for us. The service will be followed by a cook-out and picnic at the lodge. Covert Commandery will provide Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. I am requesting that each member or family attending please provide a covered dish (Potato salad, beans, corn dessert etc). This event will be open to any member of the 3rd Division and their families. Please try to let me know if you plan on attending.

Friday and Saturday, 11 and 12 May: The York Rite Festival is being completed on these days. Brian Carlson and I will both be acting as degree directors and several members of Covert Commandery will be appearing in the degree work. This year"s festival honoree is our own SK Renie Blankenship Jr. Please come out and support Renie and all our candidates!

Monday, 4 June: Stated Conclave and open installation of officers.
